The Case for a Morning Ritual
Not a routine. A ritual — the difference is smaller than you'd think, and it matters.
Latitude & Life Journal · 4 min read

A routine is something you do because you forgot not to. A ritual is something you do on purpose, even on the days you'd rather not. The distinction sounds small until you notice how differently it feels to drink a glass of water out of habit versus pouring it deliberately, first thing, before the phone comes out.
None of this is a claim about health outcomes — we're not making one. It's a claim about attention. A five-minute ritual, repeated daily, is one of the few places left in a schedule that isn't optimized for output.
If you're building your own version of this, start smaller than feels reasonable. One glass. One cleanser. One five-minute stretch. The ritual holds together because it's small enough to actually keep.
